What is 5v5?

5v5 is a fun and fast-paced game similar to 3v3. Teams may have a maximum of eight (8) players, with five (5) on the field and three (3) substitutes. Each team will typically play a minimum of three (3) games, consisting of two 20-minute halves separated by a five (5) minute half time. SSC’s Winter 5v5 Festival will award medals to players U8 and older Ask your friends – talk to your teammates and register a team now!

Who can play 5v5 soccer?

SSC’s Winter 5v5 Festival is a one day soccer event open to players of all skill levels.

Who can coach?

Anyone can coach a team and we strongly encourage you to enter a team. The primary job of the coach is to cheer on the players, make substitutions and get the team to the correct field at the correct time. It will be very simple, fun and rewarding!

How do I determine which age bracket is appropriate for my team?

Based on the 2016 fall season, teams should be registered in the age-group category of the oldest player on the team, even if players’ ages span more than one age group. See age chart below.


How many players can I have on the roster?

You may carry a maximum of eight (8) players, with a minimum of five (5) players. Your team’s entry fee is the same, regardless of the number of players on the team.

Who needs to attend Check-In?

One member and/or coach from each team must attend check-in to show proof of player registration and medical release forms.

How do I know my team’s registration is complete?

Once you have completed the online registration for your team and paid in full, you should receive a confirmation letter via email. *If you do not receive a confirmation email, first check your ‘junk’ mail; then, if you still don’t have confirmation, please contact the Tournament Director (

What do I bring to check-in?

You must bring the following to check-in:

  •  Completed Team Roster.
  • Proof of Age: Each player listed on the completed team roster must present a copy of their birth certificate, government issued ID, or a current player pass. * If your players do not have a player card, a signed letter from your club register showing player name, player ID, and birth date will be accepted.
  • Athlete Waiver and Medical Release.

How are the divisions formed?

Teams will be placed in divisions based on age and gender. Teams that span more than one age group will be placed in the division of the oldest player on the team. U18 and older (including adults) will be combined into one division.

When will schedules be available?

The Winter 5v5 Festival’s schedules will be posted on the Tournament page of the Summerville Soccer Club website. Schedules will be available online, no later than Friday December 18th, 2016.

Will the tournament standings be updated online?

Standings will be updated on-site only, on an ongoing basis, throughout the day.

What are the field dimensions?

The field of play is 40-yards in length and 25-yards in width, containing a penalty area which is an arc of 8-yards.

Are numbers on jerseys required?

No, but all players must wear similar team shirts (same color) during play. If both teams are wearing the same color, the home team (listed first on the schedule) must change to their alternate shirt/jersey or use pinnies of the same color.

Can I request a specific time to play?

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodation requests of this type.

Are there any player restrictions on casts, or jewelry?

Braces and/or hard casts are allowed only at the referee’s discretion. No jewelry will be permitted (including earrings, of any type; rope necklaces and/or bracelets). The only exception will be for players wearing medical bracelets.

Can I change my roster after my team has registered?

Yes, you can adjust your roster until check-in. You may turn in roster changes at the during check-in (before your first game).

What is the refund policy?

No refunds will be given for teams that forfeit/drop out of the tournament after the schedule has been published. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to reassign any team into a different bracket based on goal differential between the rest of the bracket and performance. Teams that show up late for games will be subject to a 1-0 forfeit. If you have questions about this, contact the Tournament Director at
